Tingley, Peter

Professor, Department Chair

Dr. Tingley did his Undergraduate work at the University of Waterloo in Canada, and then earned a masters degree from Carleton University in Canada. He did his doctoral work in mathematics with Nicola Reshetikhin at U.C. Berkeley, where he received his Ph.D. in 2008. After graduating he spend a year as an ARC postdoc with Arun Ram in Melbourne Australia, followed by three years as an NSF postdoc/C.L.E. Moore instructor at MIT.  He joined the faculty here at ÎçÒ¹AV in 2012. His research mainly concerns representations of Lie groups and their associated quantum groups. He studies these objects using a variety of tools from algebra, combinatorics, geometry, and even sometimes topology.
