Pre-health Advising

ÎçÒ¹AV students with a physics major have been extremely successful in gaining admission to health-related professional schools. Many of our graduates are currently in medical schools or are practicing as physicians. Several of our alumni are in medical physics. Some have gone to school of optometry and are currently practicing as optometrists. The discipline and dedication required to be a good physics major are also necessary for being a good physician. The extensive laboratory experience received by physics majors generates a sense of confidence to use medical technology. Very importantly, the rigor of physics curriculum demonstrates the higher abilities necessary for pursuing medical education. To help prepare students for entering the health profession and navigating the admission process, the Pre-Health Profession Advisory Committee (PHPAC) provides workshops, recommendation letter preparation, and advising services.
